Course Description

This course introduces students to the core techniques and principles of Swedish Body Massage, the foundation of modern massage therapy.

You’ll learn to master the five classical massage movementsEffleurage, Petrissage, Friction, Tapotement, and Vibration — and apply them in a complete full-body routine that promotes deep relaxation, improves circulation, and supports overall wellness.

The course also covers essential theory, including the history of massage, when and how to treat clients safely, and professional consultation skills used in spa and wellness settings.

Aim of the course & Learning Outcomes

This course aims to equip students with the knowledge, confidence, and hands-on skills needed to begin a professional career in spa and wellness therapy.

Through a balance of theory and guided practice, learners will:

  • Understand the principles and benefits of Swedish body massage
  • Develop strong practical techniques using the five classical massage movements
  • Build professional habits in client care, hygiene, and communication
  • Gain the foundation for advanced massage and spa training or entry-level employment in wellness centers, hotel spas, or resorts

Course Structure & Timetable

Course Duration: less than 10-days
Total Credit Hours: 60 hours.
Class Timing: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (with a 15-minute break).
Mode of Study: in-person practical and theory sessions.

This program consists 80% practical and 20% theoretical sessions to perform massage treatments effectively.

Pre-Requisites

Age & literacy: Minimum age usually 18; ability ability to comprehend English or Nepalese language.
Prior qualification: No formal prior massage qualification is required.
Health: Physically fit for practical training.

Assessment Criteria

  1. Theoretical Assessment (30%)
    - Oral/viva tests on theory, anatomy, indications, contraindications, and client care.

  2. Practical Assessment (60%)
    Full-body Swedish massage demonstration within a given timeframe; assessed for posture, rhythm, and professionalism.

  3. Professional Attitude & Attendance (10%)
    - Punctuality, personal and spa hygiene, teamwork, and participation in practice sessions.

This course is open to beginners, spa enthusiasts, nurses, hospitality graduates, or anyone seeking professional training in massage therapy.

Yes. Assistance for nearby student accommodation or hostel options can be provided upon request at the time of registration.

Please bring a t-shirt, shorts or trousers, and sandals for practical sessions. All other learning materials are provided by AIPA.

Yes, students may begin on the same day after completing enrollment formalities. 

However, please look at the admission deadline information above.

Yes. Upon completing all assessments and attendance requirements, students will receive an AIPA Certification in Swedish Body Massage (60 Hours).
